Mem Enterprise was founded on San Juan Island with a simple observation: small and independent businesses in tight-knit communities often have nowhere to turn for the kind of candid, experienced business guidance that larger companies take for granted. Consulting firms built for corporate clients rarely translate well to the realities of a seasonal island economy, a lean nonprofit, or a family-run operation balancing tradition with growth.
So we built something different: a practice sized to actually know the businesses we work with. Every engagement is led personally by our owner, from the first phone call through the final recommendation. There is no intake team, no junior associate learning on your account, and no generic template pulled from an unrelated industry. Just a direct, ongoing conversation about what your business needs to work better.
Over the years, that approach has taken us into strategic planning sessions for retail operations, operational reviews for service businesses, and organizational guidance for local nonprofits. Marke founded Mem Enterprise to bring practical, experience-based business guidance to Friday Harbor and the surrounding San Juan Islands community. With a background spanning operations, planning, and small-business management, Marke works personally with every client rather than delegating engagements to outside staff.
That direct involvement is intentional: understanding a business well enough to give honest counsel takes time, familiarity, and continuity — qualities that are easy to promise and hard to deliver at scale. Keeping the practice small is how Mem Enterprise keeps that promise.
